El-Rufai Speaks On His Relationship With Kaduna Governor, Nuhu Ribadu

The former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has finally opened up on his relationship with his successor, Uba Sani.

El-Rufai while speaking the ongoing probe of his former commissioners during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, February 24, said Sani can no longer be referred to as his friend.

The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory while dismissing claims that his administration stole billions of naira from the coffers of the Kaduna State government said he used to have a good relationship with the governor but not anymore.

He said, “Uba Sani has been my friend for many years, but he is not my friend anymore. The word friendship is a very important concept. God gave us out relatives. He chose our relatives for us. We have no choice; but thank God we can choose our friends.”

Defining what friendship means to him, El-Rufai said his successor failed short of being called his friend by every standard.

He also stated that the current National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu is also not his friend.

“As for me, a friend is someone that has some fidelity to some ethical and moral standards and will be there for you when you need him not when you there is time to party or enjoy. I tried to live that.

“Those that are my friends know that I will be there for them when they needed me. I will rise and defend them. That is what I call friend. Uba Sani is not my friend. Nuhu Ribadu is not my friend. They were my friend at some points but not anymore,” El-Rufai said.
