Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that the Nigerian military is capable of capturing the capital of Niger Republic, Niamey, in 13 hours.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Bashir made the claim in a Twitter post, in response to a video shared by another Twitter user that praised the army of Niger Republic.
“God forbid war but only because of stupid videos like this do I hope the Nigerian Military showcase their might in Niger & capture Niamey in 13 hours,” Bashir wrote.
The claim by Bashir El-Rufai comes at a time when tensions are high between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
The two countries have been at loggerheads since the military junta in Niger Republic severed ties with Nigeria after initial efforts of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to reinstate the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum failed.
On Friday, President Bola Tinubu, who is the Chairman of ECOWAS, wrote to the Senate seeking its support for military intervention against the military junta in Niger Republic.
