Northerners under the aegis of Arewa Progressive Forum for Good Governance (APFGG) have lambasted Bashir el-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor, for predicting President Bola Tinubu’s defeat in 2027.
The group described Bashir as “disrespectful and mannerless” for his social media post suggesting Tinubu’s “non-performance” would lead to his downfall.
APFGG Chairman, Malam Ibrahim Musa Bichi, stated that Tinubu’s political structure and dedication to Nigeria’s progress would secure his re-election. The group accused Bashir of echoing his father’s views, adding that real northern voters recognize Tinubu’s efforts to address insecurity and economic hardship.
“If your father has the capacity and popularity, why hide under former Rivers State Governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and not personally contest the highly coveted seat of President in 2023.
“We are challenging el-Rufai to pick a presidential ticket and contest against Tinubu and see who the North will vote for,” the statement added.
