Senator Ali Ndume’s influence in the Senate is set to be reduced amid controversy over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Senate President Godswill Akpabio has stripped Ndume of his role as Vice Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, reassigning him to lead the Senate Committee on Tourism instead.
This development comes on the heels of Ndume’s removal as Senate Chief Whip earlier on Wednesday, replaced by Senator Tahir Mungono.
The changes are reportedly part of a broader reshuffling of Senate standing committees.
Recall that in a controversial interview, Ndume alleged that President Tinubu was out of touch with reality, and was surrounded by corrupt officials who prioritised personal gain over the nation’s well-being.
