Emir of Damaturu leads mass prayers in honour of late Buhari

The Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, on Thursday led a deeply emotional special prayer session in memory of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Held under the auspices of the Damaturu Emirate Council, the session drew hundreds of Islamic scholars, traditional titleholders, and residents who gathered to pray for Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the late Nigerian leader.

The Emir, who also serves as the Amirul Muminin of the Emirate, urged all District Heads, Village and Ward Heads, Ulama, and members of the Emirate to join in invoking Allah’s forgiveness for Buhari.

The prayer session followed a directive from Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, who declared a public holiday across the state to allow citizens to participate in mourning and prayer activities. His action was widely hailed as a sign of loyalty and deep respect for the former President.

Throughout the event, clerics recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and offered heartfelt prayers, describing Buhari as a man of discipline, service, and unwavering commitment to national development.

In his address, the Emir paid tribute to Buhari’s legacy, highlighting his humility, incorruptibility, and patriotism. He also praised Governor Buni for guiding the state to mourn with dignity and unity.
