Former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam has announced that he is contesting for the national chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to Suswam, he is vying for the position to complete the tenure of ousted Dr Iyorchia Ayu which he said belongs to Benue state and the North Central region.
Suswam disclosed this on Friday in Katsina-Ala when he met with Benue North East PDP expanded caucus to inform them of his intention.
He said he has consulted and received blessings from the party leaders in the state, including his successor, Samuel Ortom, former Senate President David Mark, Senate minority leader Abba Moro, and the PDP’s State Working Committee.
He informed the caucus that the constitution of the party and precedence had given the north central and especially Benue right to complete the tenure of Senator Ayu, whose tenure was cut short through a court of law.
Suswam said that as a committed and loyal member of the party, he had always supported it and was ready to unite it and mobilise for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He called on all to bury the hatchet over the last general elections and come together as one family to move the party forward, stressing that the PDP remains the only viable vehicle that can lead Nigeria to the promising land.
