Ex-Gov Ortom polarizes PDP in Benue state, opens parallel party scretariat in Makurdi

Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has established a parallel secretariat for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.

The new office is located at the Oracle Business Cooperative, a property owned by Ortom, along Jonah Jang Road in High Level, Makurdi.

The move comes after Ortom’s faction of the PDP was abruptly evicted from its previous accommodation on Monday, which is reported to be owned by another former governor engaged in a political power struggle with Ortom for control of the party.

Ortom’s supporters announced the development on social media, stating that the former governor donated the new secretariat to the party to ensure it could continue operating smoothly.

Meanwhile, the official PDP state secretariat on Ochagwu Street, New GRA, Makurdi, remains operational, with regular activities continuing.

Speaking at the newly established parallel secretariat on Monday, Ortom, said his decision to open the office was to provide a conducive environment for the party to function.

He reaffirmed his commitment to his role within the party, emphasizing his dedication to ensuring the PDP regains power in the 2027 elections.

Ortom also expressed his support for all PDP candidates in the upcoming local government elections in the state and urged the party’s Caretaker Committee to focus on uniting all warring factions within the Benue PDP.
