A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has said it was wrong of Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the party, to call those demanding his resignation “children”.
Recall POLITICS NIGERIA had reported on Wednesday that Ayu said those calling for his resignation are “children”.
The camp of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is insisting on Ayu’s resignation as a condition for supporting Atiku Abubakar, presidential flag-bearer of the PDP.
George, a former military governor of Ondo State, spoke alongside Wike, during the commissioning of Omerelu Internal roads in the Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Thursday.
The life member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP asked Ayu to be careful.
“You see and you hear when a serving National Chairman of our party is calling elected governors children. Does he think that children don’t grow or there is a life perpetual for him?
“We need to watch our language. It look to me that it is him that is premature,” George said.
Furthermore, the Lagos State PDP chieftain aligned with Wike that Ayu should vacate his position for a southerner to occupy.
“We are not begging for it; we demand it because it is our right,” he said.
