Ex-Kaduna Governor, Makarfi heads Kogi PDP governorship committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed the former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, as the Chairman of the Kogi State governorship primaries, which are scheduled to hold on Sunday in the state capital, Lokoja.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the purpose of the exercise is to select a candidate to represent the party in the upcoming governorship election in November.

According to a brief statement signed by the PDP National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, the committee will consist of seven members, with Laureta Ogwuche serving as the secretary. The other members are Toyin Mark, Ikechukwu Nwosu, Deolu Harrison, Usman Ibrahim, and Anthony Onwuka.

The statement also stressed that the committee must adhere strictly to the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), the electoral guidelines for party primary elections, and the 2022 Electoral Act.

It reads in part: “It is expected that your exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during your assignment will justify the confidence reposed in you by the leadership of the party.”
