The immediate past minister of Women’s Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye is being questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of the misappropriation of funds from the ministry’s coffers.
A source said the minister arrived at the headquarters of the commission on Thursday over her alleged role in the misappropriation of N138,413,253.89.
According to the source, Kennedy-Ohanenye was said to have violated procurement process which made room for the diversion of the said fund during the disbursement of the 2023 budget.
She reportedly arrived at the EFCC office at about 11 am and was questioned by the operatives of the anti-graft agency until last night.
The source said, “Investigations by the EFCC showed that funds donated for the funding of the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were diverted for her self-enrichment.
“Investigations are still ongoing. She has not been admitted to administrative bail,” the source said.
