State governors and other political heavyweights arrived in Akwa Ibom State on Thursday evening ahead of Governor Umo Eno’s anticipated defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, Friday, June 6, 2025.
Among those who arrived at the Akwa Ibom Government House in Uyo were His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Governor of Cross River State, and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. Other top APC leaders are expected to arrive en masse this morning to receive the governor into the ruling party.
The development has thrown Akwa Ibom’s political establishment into tension, with many PDP stakeholders maintaining a noticeable silence. Sources close to the party say the leadership has been blindsided by the speed and certainty of the defection.
Prominent PDP figures, including party elders, ex-officeholders, and political appointees, have so far withheld public comments, signifying speculation of internal dissatisfaction and quiet resentment.
Governor Eno’s defection comes amid mounting tension in his political camp. Reports indicate that several aides—including Special Assistants (SAs), Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and Personal Assistants (PAs)—are unlikely to cross over with him to the APC.
The move is said to have unsettled the PDP’s 2027 election preparations and may complicate long-standing zoning and power rotation arrangements within the state.
This shift has also not gone down well with many local politicians who feel betrayed by the sudden change.
Eno’s defection will further weaken the PDP’s grip nationwide, reducing its control to just ten states: Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Taraba, and Zamfara.
Cowards always ran away from responsibilities. Every act of betrayal have repercussions. Nobody will ever entrust power or position to such person. Your new friends will never trust you, wish will diminish your political dignity.

The problem started when the PDP betrayed themselves in 2023 general election presidential ticket some people will think that God is
not sean what is happening in the country how can a northern nars takeover from another one again den what happens to other rigion if the PDP still want to come to power they should put their house in other before 2031so no matter what eney party will do the APC will still be in power 2027

If all the PDP governors stay back in PDP and contest election, they will 100% win. The problem is Secretary that submit their form to INEC remember if wrong person submit your form and you inventualy win you’re gone, PDP should settle their problem.

PDP is APC,……APC is PDP the same people, the same character and behaviours. So I see no difference in all these. It is left to us the masses to use our brains beyond party and focus on individuals who stand tall in character wise without party.
