Fuel Subsidy: Deji Adeyanju Blasts NLC for Suspending Strike

Activist Deji Adeyanju has faulted leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) over their late-night decision to suspend its planned strike action to protest the removal of petrol subsidy.

Politics Nigeria reports that the union recently declared an industrial action following the removal of fuel subsidy.

The removal which was announced by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural speech on May 29, had immediately triggered a price hike.

The activist consequently accused the labour leaders of betraying the cause.

According to him, they have no business going to the villa to negotiate with Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Adeyanju made this known via his Facebook page on Tuesday, June 6.

“I woke up to see the betrayal by NLC. I knew this was going to happen. Once you see people who should be protesting almost sleeping in the Villa, compromise is the next thing.

They suspended the strike without achieving anything. A hungry man cannot do Aluta. Shame!”

NLC has compromised again. Called off a strike without achieving anything. Fuel still at over N500 per liter across Nigeria.

“FG not doing anything to privatize the refineries/sell them off or make them work anytime soon but Nigerians must continue to subsidize the politicians,” he added.
