A prominent native doctor and self-styled ‘billionaire’ is currently at large after authorities uncovered the abduction of a 13-year-old girl and the burial of at least Two victims, including a pregnant woman, on his property in Ezeagu Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Onyeka Obu—better known locally as “E Dey Play, E Dey Show”—is being hunted by state and community security forces.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the grisly discovery was made on May 26th, after a gang led by Obu, a native of Umuojo, Isiagu Umumba autonomous Community, abducted a minor. This newspaper learnt that the minor was able to raise alarm causing nearby residents to intervene.
One of the Abductors was successfully captured and heavily beaten before he confessed to his role in the Kidnap and led residents to the property.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman, Ezeagu Local Government Area, Dr. Vita Ndu, said; “We must protect our people. The safety of our children and residents are non-negotiable,” he said, describing his shock upon learning that two corpses—a male and a female—were exhumed from a soakaway pit in the suspect’s still-under-construction home.
Acting on orders from the State Governor, Peter Mbah and in coordination with local youths, women and elders, all buildings on Obu’s property were demolished. “That house was a den of evil—who knows how many lives it could have consumed? But God exposed him,” declared Dr. Celestine Nwolie, President-General of Umuojo Isiagu Autonomous Community, voicing the community’s support for the governor’s directive.
Two accomplices have been taken into custody, and investigators are following leads to identify other participants. Dr. Ndu thanked the Enugu State Police Command, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, area commands and neighborhood watch groups for their swift action. “Immediate and sustained security operations must continue to rid our land of these criminal elements masquerading as herbalists,” he added.
High Chief F.C. Okeke, Village Head of Umuojo Umuoma, condemned the atrocities: “We are not happy with what happened, but we thank God that the truth has come to limelight. Evil has no hiding place in Ezeagu.”
With investigations ongoing, Dr. Ndu issued a stern warning to other criminals: “If you are involved in kidnapping or any illicit activities, leave Ezeagu and Enugu State now. We will find you, and justice will be served.”
