Explosion rocks Lagos building [PHOTOS]

An explosion has been recorded at a building in Ikotun area of Lagos State.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the incident happened around 6:30 PM on Thursday at 17, Obalabi street, off Governor Road, Ikotun.

This newspaper understands that there are no causalities.

The explosion which led to the collapse of the building was allegedly caused by stored chemicals.

Firefighters from two different stations immediately attended to the scene after distress calls.

A statement by Adeseye Margaret, the Director of the Lagos State Fire Service confirmed the incident.

“The explosion from the chemical-induced materials consequently resulted in the collapse of the building.

“No record of casualty as occupants of the building are safe.

“However, an adjoining one-storey boys’ quarter building and two vehicles parked within the premises were saved among others while a preliminary investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the Fire incident and will be made available to the public in order to forestall such occurrence in future,” the statement by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service partly reads.
