Commissioner for Religious Affairs in Zamfara, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu Gummi, has vowed that his ministry would revive and improve Islamic Sharia in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Gusau, the state capital, Gummi said his ministry is seeking support from relevant stakeholders and authorities to ensure that the Sharia legal system is properly entrenched in Zamfara.

“We are advising the citizens of the state to exercise patience with this present administration because it is new,” he added.

He called on Islamic clerics to fear Allah and be as truthful as to serve as counsellors to the state government.

Speaking earlier, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Malam Bashiru Surajo, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for appointing a renowned Islamic scholar like Gummi as the Commissioner of Religious Affairs.
