Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed has officially taken over as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The appointment comes after the tenure of immediate past MD/CEO Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu expired on the 19th May, 2023.
In a statement, Ag General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Faithful Hope-Ivbaze (Mrs.) stated that in a brief handover ceremony held at the Authority’s headquarters Tuesday in Abuja, the new MD commended Captain Yadudu for his innovative contributions and leadership to the aviation industry in Nigeria.
The MD/CEO, until the new appointment was the Regional General Manager, North Central Airports, as well as the Chairman, Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee.
Muhammed, a seasoned administrator and an astute aviator with stints in both the public and private sectors brings to board his wealth of experience in aviation safety and security. He is expected to consolidate on the lofty achievements of the immediate past Managing Director/CE, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu.
While congratulating the newly appointed MD/CE and welcoming him as he takes the mantle of leadership, we thank Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu for his innovativeness and hard work while his tenure lasted. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reorganisation of agencies under the Ministry of Aviation in line with the new Acts of the National Assembly which he assented to.
For the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr Tayib Odunowo was appointed as the Managing Director. He takes over from Mr Matthew Lawrence Pwajok who reverts to his substantive position as Director of Operations of the Agency.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has Engr Akin Olateru as the Directors-General while Prof Mansur Matazu, heads the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and Captain Bako Mansur Modibo as the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria.
All the appointments are with immediate effect.
