A father and his two-year-old son have died in a building collapse that occurred in Madabe village, Buji Local Government Council of Jigawa State.
The incident was confirmed by Ali Safiyanu, the council’s Information Officer on Monday, August 11.
According to Safiyanu, the boy’s mother – a 25-year-old woman – survived the incident.
He said the surviving mother is currently responding to treatment at a hospital in the are council.
Giving details of the incident, Safiyanu said the building collapsed on Sunday, August 11, during a heavy rainfall.
Also confirming the collapse and death of the man and his son, the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, Badaruddeen Tijjani, said he could not give the names of the victims.
He said the NSCDC is investigating the incident where flood wreaked havoc in the council between Thursday and Sunday.
