FCT Abduction Crisis Deepens as Two More Persons Are Killed, Ransom Raised to N700m

Two additional abductees from Sagwari Estate Layout in Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been killed by kidnappers.

The abductees were killed as a stern message to their relatives engaged in ransom negotiations, POLITICS NIGERIA learnt.

The latest development comes barely a week after another victim, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, was killed by the same gang.

The kidnappers, who abducted 10 residents on January 7, have taken further steps to pressure families into meeting their ransom demands. Initially set at N60 million per head, the price has now been adjusted to N100 million, pushing the total sum to N700 million. Residents claim the killings were a direct response to delays in raising the ransom.

Among the murdered is Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old student. The kidnappers, operating in Bwari villages, had already killed one victim, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, to pressure the family into swiftly raising the ransom.

In reaction, former Minister Prof. Ali Pantami, on Sunday, mobilised a N50 million ransom balance for the Al-Kadriyar family after Nabeeha’s murder.
