FCT Police boss orders inquiry into killing of retired Brigadier-General in Abuja estate

In a swift response to the tragic attack at Sunshine Homes Estate, which resulted in the death of Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (rtd.), the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth C. Igweh, has ordered an immediate and thorough investigation.

The incident occurred yesterday morning, around 3:00 a.m. when armed robbers invaded the estate.

Brigadier General Udokwere, who had retired from the Nigerian Army, was attacked and fatally injured during the robbery.

In a press statement released on Saturday evening, CP Benneth Igweh expressed his profound condolences to the family of the deceased.

He assured them and the general public that every effort would be made to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act were apprehended and brought to justice.

“Expressing profound condolences to the bereaved family, CP Benneth Igweh assures the family and the public of swift justice, with every effort in conduit to ensure the perpetrators of the atrocious act are apprehended and brought to justice,” the statement read.

The Commissioner also reiterated the commitment of the FCT Police Command to enhance the security framework of Abuja.

He stated that the command is continually adapting its strategies to effectively counter the evolving nature of criminal activities in the nation’s capital.

“The Commissioner of Police reaffirms the unflinching commitment of the command to amplify the security landscape of the nation’s capital by continually adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving criminal activities,” the statement added.

SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police Command, confirmed that updates on the investigation will be provided as the situation develops.
