The FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has recovered the remains of a 20-year-old commercial tricycle rider, also known as “keke napep,” from a pool of water in the Wuye district.

The tricycle rider, identified as Adamu Yusuf, was fatally injured as he attempted to fetch water from the pool to wash his tricycle.

Following a directive from the Director General of FEMA, Dr. Abbas Garba Idriss, the search and rescue team of the agency swung into action and recovered the body of the deceased rider, who was reported to have drowned around 6 a.m. today.

A combined effort of FEMA divers and some community volunteers recovered the lifeless body of Yusuf at about 11:30 a.m. and immediately handed over his remains to his relatives for burial.

FEMA is responsible for managing disasters, both natural and man-made, within the FCT.

This includes developing and implementing emergency plans, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating disaster response and recovery efforts.

FEMA is also responsible for forecasting potential disasters and taking preventive measures to mitigate their impact.

This involves conducting risk assessments, identifying vulnerable areas and populations, and developing plans to reduce the impact of disasters.
