FG Begins Compiling List of New Ambassadors

The Federal Government has reportedly begun compiling a list of new ambassadors to represent Nigeria in different countries.

This comes after President Bola Tinubu recalled all Nigerian ambassadors, both career and non-career, on September 2 and asked them to return to the country by October 31.

Nigeria has no fewer than 300 foreign missions, and the recall was communicated to the affected envoys by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

Sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said some ambassadors had returned but that the Presidency had begun compiling a list of new ambassadors to replace them.

“Names of new ambassadors are being compiled,” The Punch quoted a top official in the ministry. However, the official could not ascertain how many of the new ambassadors would be posted out or when they would be posted.
