Yoruba Nation: We’ll continue to protest until FG dialogues with Yorubas – Afenifere

A chieftain of Afenifere, a socio-cultural group in the South West, Gboyega Adejumo, has said since the federal government is aversive to dialogue with secessionist groups, more protests loom.

Adejumo, who appeared on Sunrise Daily, a Channels TV show monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA, was speaking on the aftermath of the Yoruba nation rally held on Saturday.

The much talked-about rally, staged in Lagos, was an offshoot of the agitation for Yoruba nation led by Sunday Adeyemo, popularly addressed as Sunday Igboho. The Department of State Security Service (SSS) had on Thursday raided the house of the self-styled activist and declared him wanted.

However, Adejumo stated that the Buhari-led administration, unlike previous ones, has refused to entertain discussions with agitators. “We have had dialogues in the past but right now this Administration, this President, doesn’t seem to even want to consider all options or any option.”

“If you’re talking about options, compromise is the cheapest lawyer. Why can’t we dialogue? You don’t want a dialogue. Of course, they’re going to protest. We can’t continue to leave without dignity,” the Afenifere chieftain said.
