The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that it will commence the production of military hardware for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
This was disclosed by Nigeria’s Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar-Audu on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Abubakar-Audu while speaking in Kaduna during a visit to the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency said the ministry would be partnering with the Minister of Defence and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria to venture into the production.
He also noted that the parties involved have drafted a Memorandum of Understanding and shared with DICON for subsequent approval from the president.
“One of President Bola Tinubu’s key objectives is the rehabilitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company.
“We are working towards integrating military hardware production into the complex as part of a broader plan to establish a military-industrial complex in Nigeria,” Abubakar-Audu said.
