FIFA Honours Super Eagles Striker Victor Osimhen

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has recognised Super Eagles’ forward, Victor Osimhen, for his contribution to the round leather game.

The Nigerian got a special jersey and ball following his mesmerising displays for Napoli in the just concluded 2022/23 season.

The 24-year-old Nigeria was integral to the Napoli side that won the Italian Scudetto for the first time in 33-years.

Osimhen scored a staggering 26 goals and registered four assists in 32 league appearances for Napoli this season.

The Nigerian also managed to score five goals in six appearances for his club in the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen was also the highest goal scorer in Serie A and emerging as the first-ever African player to achieve the record, the feat made him featured in the Team of the Season.

“Victor Osimhen, you represent at the moment what football can do,” FIFA wrote in a message to appreciate the Nigerian attacker.

The footballing body also commended Osimhen’s roots from Lagos to Napoli and admitted that he was loved by his people due to his determination.

FIFA described Osimhen as an inspiration to many and urged him to remain focused even as he continues to deliver goals for his teams.
