Goods said to be worth billions of naira have been destroyed in an early morning fire at the Moniya market in Akinyele local government area of Oyo State.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the fire razed about 17 shops within the market where these goods were destroyed at about 12.30 am on Monday.
While the cause of the fire is not yet known, the Babaloja of Moniya Garage, Kolawole Balogun confirmed the incident.
According to Balogun, they were alerted about the fire by a security operative in the market at about 12.30 am.
Balogun and the chairman of the Market Garage expressed deep concern over the extent of the losses.
Reports have it that some shop owners affected by the fire incidents including Yetunde Musa, Ajetunmobi Idowu, Olaide Badmus, Balogun Sulaimon, and Ajetunmobi Kolawole.
These victims of the fire urged the Oyo State government to provide immediate support for those affected by the fire incident.
