Five bandits killed as troops launch operation in Plateau

Five bandits have been neutralized following an operation by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Operation Safe Haven.

The troops stationed in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State successfully neutralised the bandits including their commander popularly known as Kachalla Saleh.

The operation which took place on Monday was said to have occurred less than one week after the suspected criminals clashed with vigilantes in Dogon Ruwa community.

The clash led to the killing of four people in the community.

One of the youth leaders in Wase, Abdullahi Haruna said the incident took place around noon in Kinashe village, Bashar District in the LGA.

According to Haruna, the bandits were completely caught off-guard by the troops.

“Bandits had displaced people from the area, using it as a hiding place. The bandits didn’t expect security personnel to descend upon them at that time, given the area’s nature,” Haruna said.
