A former Governor cum current senator representing Abia North at the Red Chambers, Orji Uzor Kalu has provided insight into why he ceased using his private jet.
According to Kalu in a video that was sighted on Saturday, the economic situation in the country was the reason he stopped using his jet and instead, his decision to use commercial.
The senator revealed that he had ground the aircraft in order to drive revenue.
He added that to drive the revenue; the jet is now on lease for the airlift of oil companies officials.
He said, “Honestly, I have stopped using my private jet since 2nd of August 2024. I want to maintain that till we sort out the differential of workers in Nigeria and West Africa their salaries. Because buying fuel and the rest of them, I don’t need to explain to you, my dear, for now, I have grounded the private jet to do some other business for oil companies.”
On his alternatives for future journeys, the ex-governor said, “I want to maintain that way. Don’t ask me again there are commercial planes that are on schedule, and I will use them to the glory of God.”
The former Abia governor was among Nigeria’s first politicians to own and maintain private jets.
