The immediate past governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has said that his visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office on Monday was only procedural.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, the former governor maintained that there was nothing unusual about his appearance at the EFCC office.
He stated that he only honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency.
Politics Nigeria earlier reported that Ahmed, who was governor of Kwara State between 2011 and 2019, was quizzed at the EFCC’s zonal office in Ilorin.
But his spokesperson stated that it was normal for former governors to answer questions about their time in office.
“Dr Ahmed’s visit to the EFCC is procedural and routine. He was invited, and he honoured them as he’s always done,” the statement read.
“He’s always ready to respond to any query or question regarding his tenure as governor of the state.
“So, there’s nothing unusual about the invitation and his honouring the anti-graft agency.”
