Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has approved the appointment of Captain Hadi Sirika, former minister of aviation, as the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina.
The appointment, which takes effect from October 2025, is for a tenure of four years.
In a statement issued by Ibrahim Almu-Gafai, director of press in the office of the secretary to the state government (SSG), Sirika’s appointment was described as a recognition of his “outstanding qualities and years of exemplary service.”
Almu-Gafai quoted Abdullahi Garba-Faskari, the SSG, as saying the governor urged the appointee to “bring his vast experience to bear in his new assignment.”
Sirika served as Minister of Aviation from 2019 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The governor congratulates Sen. Sirika on his well-deserved appointment, and wishes him Allah’s guidance in the discharge of his duties as chairman of the governing council of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University,” Garba-Faskari said.
