Renowned Professor of Political Economy and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has advised President Bola Tinubu to consider reshuffling his cabinet before the administration marks its one-year milestone.
Prof. Moghalu, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the 2019 general elections, emphasized the importance of the move for the successful achievement of the economic targets set by the administration.
“President Bola Tinubu needs to revamp his cabinet… Removing the subsidy is just one aspect of the reform. There are other things to do,” Professor Moghalu said.
According to Prof. Moghalu, while removing subsidies is a significant reform, other crucial aspects need attention for comprehensive economic governance.
He highlighted several critical recommendations for the administration, including guaranteeing access to credit for the manufacturing sector and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).
He also called for improving the power supply for production activities, which is crucial to supporting economic growth and development.
He noted that ensuring the country’s security is paramount for local and international investors. The government should take measures to secure the nation.
Prof. Moghalu also called for promoting transparency and accountability in the oil exploration segment of the petroleum sector to address and end oil theft.
