Miguel Ovoke, a four-year-old pupil of BrickHall Schools located Kaura district of Abuja has been confirmed dead.
According to the death certificate dated April 24, 2024, issued by Excel Specialist Hospital, Abuja, little Ovoke was brought to the hospital by his teachers around 11 am in an unconscious state.
The medical report, signed by Dr. Akinwande Ajayi, on behalf of the medical director, indicated that he was brought in, “on account of aspiration on meat while feeding at school.”
The hospital said upon examination, the medical team found that the boy’s pupils were fixed and dilated, with a nonreactive response to light, according to Punch.
Parents of the deceased, suspecting foul play, have contacted a lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, to handle the case on their behalf.
Meanwhile, there has been outrage over a viral video depicting bullying at Lead British International School located in Abuja.
On Monday night, an X user, @moooyeeeee posted two videos of a female student of the school being repeatedly slapped by another female student and called for justice for the victim.
Parents and human rights coordinators also visited the school on Tuesday, after the bullied student and one of her bullies in the viral video were identified.
The development led to the temporary closure of the school for three days while the management promised to investigate the matter.
