‘From renewed hope to renewed anger’, ex-APC national vice chairman blasts Tinubu over hardship

A former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman has slammed the President Bola Tinubu-led administration over the level of hardship and poverty experienced by Nigerians across country.

Lukman while assessing Tinubu’s administration since assuming office in May 2023, said nothing seems to have changed for the benefit of the ordinary Nigerian.

According to him, despite being a part of the ruling party and government in power, he had earlier raised alarm over the decisions and policies adopted by the present administration.

Lukman said that his concerns which were directed at the President and the leadership of the party all fell on deaf ears.

His said, “On the scorecard of President Tinubu and the APC government for two years, I mean it is predictable, even from my previous writings, nothing has changed. From almost two months after the coming of Asiwaju, when I saw the wrong steps, remember one of the first open letter I wrote to him, was about disturbing signals.

“Raising alarm about how he was getting it wrong and subsequently I made the point that renewed hope has become renewed anger,” Lukman stated.

He also noted that a quick survey across states of the nation will reveal to anyone who cares to listen that agitation is building up among the people.

He also warned that the agitation from the people need to be addressed to avoid an outburst of emotions and anger from Nigerians who are bearing the brunt of bad governance.

He said, “So much so, that people are agitated all over the place. You know being an insider, I Was there and I have read news and campaigned on the basis of it, I can say I am well informed in terms of the content of the Renewed Hope promises we have made.

“Nothing has come close so far to delivering on what we promised Nigerians which is the disappointing part, in terms of my assessment of the government of Asiwaju,” he said.
