Fubara Directs New LG Chairmen To Pay Outstanding Salaries, Entitlements to Wike’s Men

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has directed the newly sworn-in caretaker committee (CTC) chairmen to pay outstanding salaries and entitlements to former chairmen and councillors appointed by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

During the swearing-in ceremony of the 23 local government CTC chairmen and members, Governor Fubara said it is important to maintain peace, eschew violence, and operate within the guidelines of the Constitution.

He noted that their tenure would be brief due to the ongoing process of conducting fresh local government elections in the state.

Governor Fubara urged the newly appointed chairmen to resume duties with a strong sense of commitment and dedication to serving the people and protecting Rivers State’s interests.

He specifically instructed them to compute and pay outstanding financial benefits and entitlements, including salaries, to the outgoing chairmen, vice-chairmen, and councillors appointed by Wike.

“I direct you to settle their entitlements. I am not one to condone maltreatment, regardless of past events. Ensure they receive their due benefits,” Governor Fubara said.
