A video has emerged showing a former senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, rolling on the floor and expressing gratitude to God over his victory at the gubernatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Melaye, 49, recently emerged winner of the primary with 313 votes. Awoniyi came second with 77 votes.
The Chairman of the PDP primary Election Committee, Ahmed Makarfi announced the results on Sunday at the end of the indirect primary held in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Melaye is a former member of the House of Representatives and a one-time Senator. In the February 2023 election, he was one of the spokespersons for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP.
The Kogi State Governorship Election is scheduled for November 11, 2023.
