Gambari won’t interfere in Edo Governorship Election – Presidency

The Presidency has assured Nigerians that the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, will not interfere in the upcoming Edo State governorship election.

A presidency source made this known while speaking with State House reporters on condition of anonymity on Sunday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He was reacting to a recent video clip, which showed Gambari speaking with former Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole at the Presidential Villa over alleged plan to arrest some opposition members in Edo state.

The source noted that Gambari was only leading the former APC national chairman to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a smooth election devoid of violence in the Niger Delta state.

He added that CoS will not compromise the wishes of the Edo people, contrary to sentiments being bandied around by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The source noted that all attempts to discredit Gambari will continue to fail in the face of his solid credibility.

The presidential source also condemned the PDP asking the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and other international bodies to place visa restrictions on Gambari and Oshiomhole as punishment for allegedly plotting to truncate the Edo election.
