Ganduje begins construction of Ruga settlement in Kano

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has said his government has started the construction of Ruga settlement in the state.

He made this known to State House correspondents after meeting behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor added that the settlement is located in one of the forests in the state and a dam will be built to stop the movement of Fulani herdsmen from one place to the other. He, however, said once the Ruga was completed, the herders will be settled there and then modern animal husbandry will be practiced.

The governor revealed that a modern system of animal husbandry will also be constructed at the forest and that 75 sons and daughters of Fulani herdsmen have been trained in Turkey for artificial insemination.

Ganduje noted that he came to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for assisting the state with N5 billion to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic as well as other security issues in the state.
