#GEJIsComing: “Who were you before PDP made you?” – Olarewaju to Jonathan

An aspirant for the position of Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Demola Olarewaju, on Wednesday played down the significance of the speculated defection of former president, Goodluck Jonathan to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that #GEJIsComing has been trending on the social networking service, Twitter, with many predicting the former Nigerian leader will contest in the coming 2023 general elections — although the Bayelsa-born politician has been mum on his presidential ambition.

While indirectly aiming a jibe at ‘GEJ’ as Jonathan is fondly called, Olarewaju insinuated that there was nothing spectacular about the former president.

Jonathan was the deputy to late Diepreye Alamieyeseigha when he was governor of Bayelsa from 29 May 1999 to 9 December 2005. Jonathan succeeded Alamieyeseigha, before becoming Nigeria’s Vice-President, and then President following the demise of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in May 2010.

“You were a mere man the likes of Ayodele Fayose used to shut up when you go to represent Alamieyeseigha at Governor’s meeting. Defect first. And hope my election is behind me. Oh! We will break words Dear Sir,” Olarewaju wrote on his known Twitter handle.
