Gospel singer remanded over gruesome murder of NYSC member in Nasarawa

A Nasarawa State High Court has remanded Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer, after authorities discovered the severed head of Salome Adaidu, an NYSC member, in his possession.

The shocking incident came to light after Caleb Umaru, a Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary of Ajayi’s church, reported suspicious behaviour by the singer.

According to a statement from the Nasarawa State Police Command on Friday, a church member observed Ajayi discarding a bag in a river. The bag was retrieved and found to contain Adaidu’s severed head.

Ajayi later confessed to killing Adaidu, alleging infidelity as the motive. However, the deceased’s family disputed this claim, asserting that Adaidu was never in a relationship with Ajayi. They accused him of kidnapping and murdering her, contrary to his narrative.

Ajayi has been charged and remanded in prison custody, awaiting formal arraignment. The disturbing case has sparked outrage and demands for justice, as investigations continue to unravel the tragic events surrounding Adaidu’s death.
