Gov. Abdulrahman Greets Muslims at Hijrah, Urges Selfless Service

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Saturday felicitated with the Muslim communities worldwide on the Islamic New Year (Hijra 1441), calling on the faithfuls, especially in Kwara, to reflect on the spiritual, historical and contextual meanings of Hijrah and how that relates to the state.

“The Hijrah remains an evergreen and historic moment for the Muslim community. It was a tough time for the Prophet, his immediate household, and the early Muslims. But their perseverance, discipline, sacrifice, and commitment to the truth helped to establish not just the Islamic monotheism but to also transform their society positively in accordance to the tenets of Islam like principles of fairness, justice and support for the les privileged,” the Governor said in a statement by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye.

“The 2019 elections represented a sort of Hijrah for the people of Kwara State. Together we changed the course of our political history to the glory of God. I therefore call on every Kwaran to imbibe the spirit of Hijrah as we face the arduous task of rebuilding our state. Everything that contributed to the pitiable state of our state must be left in the past. We must, in the spirit of Hijrah, embrace prudence and selflessness for the greater good of Kwara.”
