Gov Alia’s Aide, Atu Terver Breaks Silence After Abuja Abduction Ordeal

The Special Assistant to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on Media Mobilization, Atu Terver, has expressed gratitude to family, friends, and well-wishers following his abduction in Abuja and safe return.

Terver was kidnapped on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, and was found alive on Friday, 19 September 2025, after two days in captivity.

In a message posted on Saturday morning, Terver recounted the trauma he experienced during the ordeal and thanked everyone who prayed and advocated for his release.

“It wasn’t a funny experience,” he wrote, describing the traumatising thoughts of what would happen to me and what would become of my family if the worst happened.”

After regaining his freedom, Terver was taken to St. Christine’s Hospital, Abuja, where doctors conducted a thorough examination.

“There was no serious injury after the doctor’s examination,” he noted, adding that he followed medical advice, took prescribed medication, and now feels much better.

He acknowledged the outpouring of concern from well-wishers, saying he would give a full account of the incident during a live session hosted by activist Ukan Kurugh.

“God is really wonderful, and this has convinced me even more that He still comes through for His children,” Terver stated.

Authorities have yet to release further details about the circumstances of the abduction or those responsible.
