The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Otti.

Kanu explained that the payment reflects the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, describing it as one of the measures that distinguish the current administration from previous ones.

“The payment will be made to their verified next-of-kin,” Kanu stated.

He further announced that the state government would soon commence the reconstruction of the 25-kilometre Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road and the 13.1-kilometre Uriam–Usaka Ring Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

Additionally, the government pledged to restore electricity in Ohafia, noting that the town and its neighbouring communities have been without power for the past seven years.

Kanu also revealed that the first phase of the functionalisation of renovated primary healthcare centres across the state had been completed.
