The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum has reacted to the attack on a military base in Borno state by some suspected terrorists.
Zulum in a statement signed by the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar condemned the attack in Sabongari community in Damboa Local Government Area.
Further describing the attack as a desperate one by the terrorists, Zulum said there were attempts to destabilise the successes recorded by the military against insurgents.
Also commiserating with families of soldiers who lost their lives during the attack, the governor said his administration is committed to working with the Nigerian military to ensure sustainable peace and development in Borno.
He said, “The enemies of our people are eager to challenge our collective will and reverse the gains we have made in resettling communities and restoring livelihoods, particularly in the agricultural sector.
“But I want to assure the armed forces and the people of Borno that together we shall achieve lasting peace,” he said.
