A wedding celebration in Jigawa turned tragic after a suspected food poisoning incident led to the death of one guest and left the groom critically ill. The police have arrested the bride and another woman in connection with the incident.
According to Lawan Adam, the spokesperson for the Jigawa Police Command, the event took place in Jahun Local Government Area.
The food served at the wedding reception is believed to have been tainted, causing severe reactions in several guests.
“We received a report that the bride had poisoned the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill.
“The police have arrested two suspects, including the bride, and the investigation is ongoing,” Adam said.
He said the police are currently working with the Criminal Investigation Department to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have reassured the public that justice will be pursued.
“We urge the public to remain calm as we continue to investigate this matter. We are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” Adam added.
