A political group in Oyo state has commiserated with the family of Olatunji Kehinde Ayoola, the former Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources.
Mr Ayoola died of an undisclosed illness on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo capital. Ayoola, who represented Oyo East/Oyo West Constituency at the state House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003, was also made the first Speaker of the state at the age of 34.
But the group, Oyo Global Forum (OGF), in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA and signed by Taiwo Hassan Adebayo, the General Secretary, described the late commissioner as a fine gentleman.
The group said the late statesman was well known for his public intellectualism, politics of development, and refined manners, which endeared him to people, young or old.
The statement read: “He was a devout Christian, a dedicated family man, and he left behind a loving wife and children. We pray God comforts his family.
“We commiserate with His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, who has described our JP as a dedicated public servant whose commitment to duty was unquestionable.
“We will be hosting a Zoom-enabled Service of Songs and Commendations. The details of the schedule of the Service will be communicated to the public as soon as arrangements are concluded in cooperation with his family.
“Please join in praying to God for His Mercy over our beloved as he transitions to eternal glory and for Him to comfort his family in this period of loss, and forever.”
