The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar on Saturday issued a warning against rigging the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21st
Atiku gave the warning at the Grand Finale Rally of the PDP in the state.
According to him, Edo is not Lagos State, where he noted, polls can be rigged by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the centre.
He called on the electorates in the state to protect their votes to avoid rigging.
The former vice president said, “If you remember four years ago they threatened us, didn’t they do that? They said they won’t allow us to win in Edo State.
“But what did we show them, ‘we showed them that Edo State no be Lagos,’ didn’t we do it?
“So this time again, we are going to show them that ‘Edo no be Lagos.’ They can’t steal votes here, therefore, protect, defend, escort your votes.
“Make sure your votes are entered, make sure your results are announced, of you do that no Jupiter will come and change your votes.
“You are winning next week, do you agree? ‘Edo no be Lagos.”
The governorship candidate of the PDP, Asue Ighodalo faces Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party in the guber poll which has continued to generate tension in the state.
