Gunmen demand N10 million ransom for kidnapped Kogi university lecturer

Professor John Ebeh, a lecturer at the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba (PAAU) has been kidnapped by some gunmen who invaded his house in a suburb of Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The lecturer was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday, January 3, by the gunmen at about 7 pm.

According to sources, the university don was taken away amid sporadic shootings which scared residents of the area away.

Close family members said the gunmen have already reached out and are currently demanding a ransom of N10 million for the release of the lecturer.

One of the sources said, “The hoodlums operated in a commando manner. It was swift. We noticed a car trailing him furiously; we took it as one of his friends or colleagues, not until we started hearing gunshots around his gate.”

Another source said, Ebeh was on his way back and was driving towards the gate when the gunmen double-crossed him and took him away.

He said, “Amidst the confusion, someone drove in furiously and blocked his car. Some masked people alighted from the vehicle and whisked him away at gunpoint.

“His abductors called the family on Friday night, demanding N10m,” he added.
