Gunmen kidnap former Senator, Chief Imam in Taraba

Former Senator representing Taraba North in the National Assembly, Zik Sunday has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Taraba Police Public Relations Officer, David Misal, made this known at a press briefing in Jalingo, the capital of the state on Monday.

Misal said the former lawmaker was kidnapped in his Village Bachama, Karim-Lamido, local government area of the state at about 1.30 am on Saturday.

He said the search for the lawmaker, who was in the Red Chamber between 2003 and 2007, has begun and will be reunited with his family very soon.

Misal said that the former Senator retired back to his home town to embark on large scale farming about two years ago.

Misal also disclosed that gunmen have also abducted the Chief Imam of the command’s mosque, Corporal Mustapha Badamasi.

He revealed that the Chief Imam was kidnapped in his house at Sabongari area of Jalingo town, and assured that efforts were underway to rescue both victims unhurt.

The Police spokesman assured the family of the command’s commitment to rescue him from his abductors.
