Gunshots as Police foil attempt to loot FCT Warehouse

The Police in Abuja on Saturday foiled an attempt by hoodlums to loot a warehouse with COVID-19 palliatives in the Arts and Culture Centre, Area 10, Garki, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It was gathered that the hoodlums invaded the Centre, and made attempts to gain entry into the building to evacuate palliatives. However, Policemen and other security personnel fired gunshots and tear gas to disperse the hoodlums early this morning.

According to reports, the Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA stored palliatives at the Centre during the pandemic. It was, however, learned that the said warehouse contains only bottled water as other palliatives had since been distributed.

Confirming the incident, FCT police spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said policemen have been deployed to the center and other public property to prevent suspected hoodlums from looting.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the incident is coming after some residents looted COVID-19 materials in Plateau, Lagos, Osun, Kwara and Cross River states.
