As the economic hardship bites harder across the country, the AUG Foundation for Orphans and Less Privileged has extended its support to 150 vulnerable households in Zamfara with significant donations.
The handover ceremony took place in Gusau, where the District Head of Tudunwada, Alhaji Nuraddeen Kabir Danbaba, praised the initiative as a crucial intervention for those in urgent need of financial support.
During the event, Danbaba expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided, highlighting the positive impact it would have on the beneficiaries. He called on others, including political officeholders, to follow the example set by the foundation and support vulnerable families.
Abdul Bala Gusau, an official of the foundation, explained that the charity was established by philanthropist Abdulhafiz Umar Barau to aid orphans and vulnerable individuals.
He noted that financial aid is especially vital given the current economic hardships faced by many Nigerians.
Each of the 150 selected beneficiaries received N10,000 in cash. In addition to financial support, the foundation provided various forms of aid, including food items, such as rice and Indomie, to Malam Lawali and widow Fatima.
Construction aid, including building materials and cash for house repairs was also given to flood-affected individuals like Yahaya NEPA and Malam Ibrahim.
A vulnerable woman in Gangaren Makabarta was given roofing sheets, doors, and windows, while a sound system was donated to Dan Larai Mosque at Old Market Gusau.
Hajiya Murjanatu Kabo, the Women Leader of the foundation, emphasized the importance of the intervention in alleviating the suffering of vulnerable groups, particularly women.
The foundation’s efforts aim to provide much-needed relief and support to those struggling amidst the economic challenges facing Nigeria.
