A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashir Ahmad, has faulted U.S. Congressman Riley Moore over his recent claims from an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Benue State.

Politics Nigeria earlier reported that Moore, who was part of a U.S. congressional delegation on a fact-finding mission regarding alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, visited an IDP camp in Benue.

In a statement issued on Tuesday night, the lawmaker said over 600,000 Christians had been displaced in the state alone.

According to him, victims driven from their ancestral homes by Islamic extremists recounted harrowing experiences, adding that the stories of the attacks and killings would remain with him for life.

Reacting, Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential spokesperson, accused the U.S. lawmaker of bias. In a post on his official X handle, he questioned why Moore did not visit IDP camps in other states where Muslims are displaced.

“The fact that there are IDP camps in Benue doesn’t mean there are none in other parts of the country.

“Had it been he wasn’t already biased in his outlook, he would have made himself available to visit other places and see the situation for himself,” Ahmad wrote.
